High-end portraits & Signature Shibari Shootings.
A private, sculptural 4-hour sitting from €1,080 in our Japanese-inspired studio in Berlin-Mitte. Directed by multidisciplinary artist Dan Carabas — 15 years for VOGUE, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, ELLE, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Mercedes-Benz. Photography and Shibari rigging by the same artist. You leave with a polished, collectible series of 20–40 images.
Fifteen years between editorial and intimate.
Over a 15-year career as a photographer — and later as a commercial film director — Dan Carabas created editorials for VOGUE, GQ, Harper's Bazaar, ELLE and produced campaigns and commercials for Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Mercedes-Benz, Louis Vuitton, The Body Shop and Universal Music.
Alongside the camera, Dan has worked with Shibari and rope-based practices for over a decade — running in parallel to his internationally exhibited art project Metamorphic Sculptures. The studio in Berlin-Mitte distils both into a private, unhurried sitting: rope as a styling line to shape the body, light to do the magic.
"For me, the essence of Shibari lies in the connection between the aesthetic expression and the emotional as well as sensual intention of the practice." — Dan Carabas

FAQ
What does the Signature Shibari Shooting include?
A 4-hour artwork sitting in the Japanese-inspired Shibari Studio Berlin-Mitte: creative brief, two Shibari settings, art direction and photography by Dan Carabas, and 20–40 final high-resolution edited images delivered via private download link. Optional archival fine-art prints and framing on request.
What exactly is Shibari?
Shibari is a traditional Japanese art of rope bondage — but in our studio, it's practiced as a form of bodywork, emotional release, and deep presence. It's not about pain or domination, but about connection, surrender, and embodiment. You are held, not just physically, but emotionally.
Is Shibari sexual or erotic?
It can feel sensual or emotionally intense — but it is not inherently sexual. Sessions are non-sexual in nature and based on trust, safety and presence. The intention is grounding, mindful, and body-focused — not erotic performance.
Do I need experience to book?
No experience is required. Many guests come for the first time without knowing anything about ropes. Everything is explained gently, and the session moves at your pace. Your comfort and boundaries are always respected.
Will I be suspended in the air?
Not necessarily. Suspension is only offered after you've gathered some experience with your body in rope, and only if it's safe, desired, and appropriate for your body. Most sittings use floor-based techniques that are just as powerful — and often more grounding.
How much is retouching?
Professional retouching is €35 per image. Editorial / fashion-grade retouching is €75 per image. A bundle of 10 retouched images is €300. Colour grading and selection are always included in the session.
What's the cancellation policy?
14+ days before the sitting: full refund minus a €20 administrative fee. 7–13 days before: 50% refundable. Less than 7 days before: no refund, unless the spot can be filled. You may transfer your spot to another participant at no charge, with at least 24h notice. Full policy →
Can I use the images commercially?
Listed prices apply to private clients / personal use only. If you (or a third party) intend to use the images commercially — brand campaigns, paid social ads, product promotion, business websites, press / PR, monetized content — a separate commercial license and quote is required. Contact info@dancarabas.com.
Is Dan a licensed therapist?
No. Dan is not a licensed therapist or medical professional. The sessions are intended as a form of somatic and artistic exploration — not clinical therapy, and not a substitute for psychotherapy, medical treatment, or mental health support.
