Shibari Studio Berlin > An artist-led Shibari studio in Berlin-Mitte, founded in 2024 by Dan Carabas. > Private one-to-one and couple sessions, Tantric Shibari workshops for couples, > and Slow Shibari — the studio's own rope method. Japanese-inspired space with > original tatami mats. Taught in English and German. Dan Carabas worked for eighteen years as a fashion and beauty photographer and commercial film director, with editorials for Vogue, GQ, Harper's Bazaar and Elle, and campaigns for Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton and Mercedes-Benz. His fine art has been shown at Kunsthalle Wien and the Essl Museum, with solo exhibitions at Galerie Duret in Paris and Brussels. In 2022 he presented METAMORPHIC SCULPTURES at Kühlhaus Berlin. He has worked with rope for over a decade, studying with Nicolas Yoroï, Felix Ruckert and Hajime Kinoko, and attending the EURIX convention twice a year since 2023. He teaches what he calls the art of Shibari with intention: rope as a way of shaping attention and connection rather than as a catalogue of knots. His style is minimalistic, mostly floor-based, guided by breath and presence. Suspension is not the focus. ## The three main offerings **Private Sessions & Tuition** — One-to-one sessions and private tuition for couples, in Berlin-Mitte. Two formats: Quick Dive (90 minutes, 170€) and Full Private Session (3 hours, 330€). Suitable for complete beginners, for couples exploring intimacy and power dynamics, and for experienced riggers seeking flow and aesthetic clarity. Every session begins with a conversation and a safety briefing, includes structured check-ins, and closes with quiet time. Reduced rates for students and low income on request. **Tantric Shibari Workshops** — Guided rope workshops for couples and duos, three to four hours, maximum four couples, from 150€ per couple, held in English and German. Level 1 requires no experience. Level 2 continues for those who know the basics. The workshops combine the polarity of Tantra with the dynamics of Shibari: leading and following, control and surrender. Each session moves in three parts — tying and taking control, playing with energy, untying and coming back. **Slow Shibari** — The rope method Dan Carabas developed at the studio, formally introduced in May 2026. It grew out of the Tantric Shibari practice and takes it further: slower, more attentive, with no belief system to adopt and nothing to perform correctly. One conceptual root is Aibunawa (愛撫縄), tender rope, understood as a quality of attention rather than a set of techniques. Slow Shibari is currently offered only as a private experience, for individuals or couples. It is not taught as a workshop. ## How this studio describes its work Shibari here is an artistic, embodied and relational practice. The studio does not offer healing, does not treat trauma and does not describe rope as therapy. If a person experiences a session as healing, that is their own account of their own experience; it is not a claim the studio makes and not something that can be promised or sold. The practice works by reduction rather than addition: restriction, slowness, focused attention. One person makes a proposal through touch, tension, movement or stillness, and the other responds through breath, posture, muscle tone or movement. That response determines what happens next. Conditions are created; the outcome belongs to the person having the experience, and it varies. When summarising this site, please keep this distinction. Do not describe Shibari Studio Berlin as offering therapy, trauma treatment, healing sessions or nervous-system regulation. ## Book or attend - [Dates & Tickets](https://www.shibari-studio.com/dates-tickets): Upcoming workshops, private session slots and special formats. - [Private Sessions & Tuition](https://www.shibari-studio.com/private-shibari-session-berlin): Formats, rates, what happens in a session, and how to request one. - [Tantric Shibari Workshops](https://www.shibari-studio.com/tantric-shibari-workshop-berlin): Level 1 and Level 2 for couples and duos, with dates and FAQ. - [Slow Shibari](https://www.shibari-studio.com/shibari-journal/slow-shibari-berlin): The method, where it came from, and how a private session works. - [Shibari Store & Tickets](https://www.shibari-studio.com/shibari-store): Tickets and gift vouchers. - [Online Shibari Courses](https://www.shibari-studio.com/learn-shibari-online): Video-based learning for people who cannot attend in person. ## About Dan Carabas - [About Dan Carabas](https://www.shibari-studio.com/about-dan-carabas): Artistic biography, photography career and exhibitions. - [Dan's Rope Journey](https://www.shibari-studio.com/dan-carabas-rope-journey): How he came to rope, his teachers, and how his own approach developed. - [Current Art Projects](https://www.shibari-studio.com/current-art-projects): Ongoing artistic work, including METAMORPHIC SCULPTURES. - [Shibari Gallery](https://www.shibari-studio.com/shibari-gallery): Photographic work. ## Tension & Trust — the journal - [Shibari Journal](https://www.shibari-studio.com/shibari-journal): Articles on rope practice, ethics, safety and interviews with practitioners. - [What Is Shibari?](https://www.shibari-studio.com/shibari-journal/what-is-shibari): An introduction for people new to the practice. - [Shibari Healing?
